New Waterproof Softfall Cover
We were very fortunate to have received a donation from Yancoal Mount Thorley Warkworth for their $6 000 donation toward the replacement of our mesh soft-fall cover with a material that is waterproof.
The cover was installed over the Christmas holiday period and it’s wonderful. The proposed benefits of the project are being delivered.
These include that it would:

- Provide improved shelter from the weather, allowing more time/days when the children are able to access the gross motor equipment or participate in other activities planned for this space.
- Support improved learning outcomes for all children, in particular, research which links physical activity with increased concentration.
- Provide greater opportunity for our many children with disabilities or needs to access sensory equipment in rainy weather, eg: the many swings, spinners, tramps which support self-regulation.
- Provide improved shelter from rain, supporting additional seated or gathering space when we have family events.
- Reduce the slip on the soft fall area when it rains, making it safer to access in the rain.
- Increase the opportunity for play and learning in the outdoor environment, supporting not only physical health and development, but also good mental health
