“We were delighted to have little helpers from Singleton Heights Pre-School at our Ravensworth Hillcrest offset area earlier this week.
The children planted seedlings as part of a biodiversity project supported by our Ravensworth Open Cut operation.
In fact, the seeds were initially collected by the operation and donated to the school. Students were tasked with nurturing the plants until they grew to be around 10cm in height.
Director of Singleton Heights Pre School, Neisha Dean said:
“The seedlings have been purchased back by the mine for $1 each, with the funds going towards our school resources. The work we do through this project is hands-on, so the children get to experience what they are learning about and be part of the community. It’s been such a fantastic day and the kids have learnt so much.”
